5 Ways To Brighten Up Your Eyes With White Eyeliner
Posted by Naturally Safe Cosmetics on 29th Sep 2017
When it comes to mineral eyeliner, most of us think of the usual shades like black and brown or maybe even blue. And while some of us may even be a little more adventurous than that, and occasionally opt for a green or a purple, how many of you have ever tried white? Yes, that’s right – white. "But white isn’t even a colour", I hear you say. Don’t underestimate the power of white. Let me tell you, there is nothing plain about white.
Surprisingly, white eyeliner is one of the most dramatic colours you can choose for your eye makeup and you can have lots of fun with it. And, if you have small eyes or close set eyes, white eyeliner can help to change the appearance of your eyes.
So, with that in mind, here are 5 tips for incorporating white eyeliner into your natural makeup routine. Perhaps not every day, but give it a go and see what you think. We recommend Inika Certified Organic Eyeliner Pencil in White Crystal.
Small Eyes
You can really bring out small eyes and make them appear much bigger simply by lining the inside of your lower eyelid with white liner, i.e. right along the water line.
Close Set Eyes
Make your eyes appear wider by lining the inside corner of your eyes closest to your nose (the sideways “V” if you like) and then gently smudging or blending with your finger to soften the look. This one looks amazing on all eyes, not just close set eyes, and is a popular trick utilised by makeup artists everywhere.
Define
Accentuate, highlight and add definition to your brow bone by drawing a line just beneath your eyebrow and then blending into your eyeshadow with your finger or a quality blending brush like the Inika Vegan Blending Brush.
Drama
Add drama and excitement to your look by lining your upper lid and flicking up at the sides for a winged affect. This also looks great when combined with black eyeliner. Simply line with the black liner first, right along the lash line, then add a parallel white line directly above the black line. Ebony and ivory indeed!
Cover Your Bases
Applying white colour all over your upper eyelids makes for a great base upon which you can build gorgeous looks. Apply your white liner over the lids and blend with a brush or your finger – don’t go too heavy. Then simply apply your favourite mineral eyeshadow colour over the top for colour that has that extra ‘pop’. Alternatively, stay with the white base and only add colour to the eyelid crease and outside corner of your eye – perhaps a golden brown like Zola Cosmetics Mineral Eyeshadow in Hazel.
By the way, you don't necessarily want to use all 5 of these examples together at the same time. That could result in a little of what they call 'overkill'. But you can certainly combine 2 or 3. For example, highlighting the inner eye can be done together with the water line. The brow bone can be done with all of the other suggestions.
So there you have it – 5 ways you can use white eyeliner to brighten up your life – well, your eyes anyway.
